  In 2003 the federal government required lumber companies to remove trace amounts of arsenic from the pressure treating process. This resulted in an ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quatrate) pressure treat. In January of 2007 most major lumber manufacturers switched to a micro treated process which results in a much lighter and more consistent pressure treated piece of wood.
